25℃ strong base solution pOH 1.88 KOH Ba(OH)2

 

 

The pOH of a strong base solution is 1.88 at 25℃.

Calculate the concentration of the base if

(a) the base is KOH and

(b) the base is Ba(OH)2.

pOH = –log[OH^-] = 1.88

[OH^-] = 10^(–1.88) = 0.0132 M

 

 

 

(a)

KOH(aq) → K^+(aq) + OH^-(aq)

[KOH] = [OH^-] = 0.0132 M

Ba(OH)2(aq) → Ba^2+(aq) + 2OH^-(aq)
