Write expressions for K. 2CO2(g) ⇌ 2CO(g) + O2(g)

 

 

Write equilibrium constant expressions for Kc,

and for Kp, if applicable, for the following processes:

a) 2CO2(g) ⇌ 2CO(g) + O2(g)

b) 3O2(g) ⇌ 2O3(g)

c) CO(g) + Cl2(g) ⇌ COCl2(g)

d) H2O(g) + C(s) ⇌ CO(g) + H2(g)

e) HCOOH(aq) ⇌ H^+(aq) + HCOO^-(aq)

f) 2HgO(s) ⇌ 2Hg(l) + O2(g)

Pure solids (s) and liquids (l) must be excluded

because their concentrations are constant.

Kc = [O3]^2 / [O2]^3

Kp = (P_O3)^2 / (P_O2)^3

Kp ≡ Kc

 

 

 

c) CO(g) + Cl2(g) ⇌ COCl2(g)

Kc = [COCl2] / [CO] [Cl2]

Kp ≡ Kc

 

 

 

d) H2O(g) + C(s) ⇌ CO(g) + H2(g)

Kc = [CO] [H2] / [H2O]

Kp ≡ Kc

 

 

 

e) HCOOH(aq) ⇌ H^+(aq) + HCOO^-(aq)

Kc = [H^+] [HCOO^-] / [HCOOH]

 

 

 

f) 2HgO(s) ⇌ 2Hg(l) + O2(g)

Kc = [O2]
