안개(fog), 박무(mist), 연무(haze) 차이

What is the difference between fog and mist and haze?

가시거리가 1 km 미만이면, 포그(안개, 진한 안개), 1 km 이상이면, 미스트(박무, 옅은 안개).

 

The difference between fog and mist is visibility (how far you can see through it). If visibility is less than 1000 m we call it ‘fog’ and if visibility is greater than 1000 m we call it ‘mist’.

 

 

포그와 미스트 둘 다 아주 작은 물방물이 대기 중에 분산되어 있는 것 또는

대기 중에 떠 있는 현상.

 

Fog is defined as ‘Obscurity in the surface layers of the atmosphere, which is caused by a suspension of water droplets’.

 

Mist is defined as ‘when there is such obscurity and the associated visibility is equal to or exceeds 1000 m’. Like fog, mist is still the result of the suspension of water droplets, but simply at a lower density.

 

 

헤이즈(연무)는 미스트와 같이 가시거리가 1 km 이상이지만, 미스트와 달리 습도가 비교적 낮을 때 대기 중에 연기, 먼지 등 미세 입자가 떠 있어서 가시거리가 나빠지는 현상을 말한다.

또한 연무는 공장, 주택 등에서 발생하는 연기나 자동차 배기가스 등 인간 활동에 의해 발생하는 인공적 오염 물질에 의해 나타나는 경우가 많으므로, 연무가 관측된 날은 외출이나 야외활동을 가급적 삼가는 것이 좋다.

 

Haze is a slightly different phenomenon which is a suspension of extremely small, dry particles in the air (not water droplets) which are invisible to the naked eye, but sufficient to give the air an opalescent appearance.
