FeS2 H2SO4 Iron Mountain [H3O^+] = 6.3 M pH water

During mining operations,

the mineral pyrite (FeS2) is exposed to air and oxygen

and reacts to produce sulfuric acid (H2SO4).

The drainage from the Iron Mountain Mine in California

was found to have [H3O^+] = 6.3 M.

Calculate the pH of the water seeping from the mine.

---------------------------------------------------

pH = –log[H3O^+]

( 참고 https://ywpop.tistory.com/2706 )

= –log(6.3)

= –0.7993

답: pH = –0.80

[참고]

> pH = –log(6.2) = –0.7924 = –0.79

> pH = –log(6.6) = –0.8195 = –0.82
