화합물 내에 C–C 결합 또는 C–H 결합이 존재한다.

[Preferred IUPAC name] Tetrachloromethane

CCl4 is almost always classified as organic.

There are two reasons for this.

First, the series CH4, CH3Cl, CH2Cl2, and CHCl3 are all organic

and CCl4 is simply the final member of the series,

and second, in nearly all respects it behaves chemically like

the other compounds in this group.

 

 

 

CCl4 can be considered as a part of the family:

CH4, CH3Cl, CH2Cl2, CHCl3 and CCl4 in which

the molecules following methane are derived by

replacing hydrogen of methane.

Since methane and other molecules are organic,

hence CCl4 is also organic.

Moreover, the properties of CCl4 are similar to organic compounds.

Therefore it is an organic compound.

 

 

 

Methane (CH4) is an organic compound.

CCl4 was synthesized by replacing

the H atoms in methane with Cl atoms.

Therefore CCl4 is a “derivative”

(meaning “derived from”) of methane.

Derivatives of organic compounds

are considered to be organic compounds.
