▶ Chemical weathering의 사전적 의미

> the erosion or disintegration of rocks, building materials, etc., caused by chemical reactions (chiefly with water and substances dissolved in it) rather than by mechanical processes.

 

> 기계적 과정이 아닌 화학 반응(주로 물과 물에 용해된 물질과의 반응)에 의해 발생하는 암석, 건축 자재 등의 침식 또는 붕괴.

 

 

 

▶ Chemical weathering is caused by rain water reacting with the mineral grains in rocks to form new minerals (clays) and soluble salts. These reactions occur particularly when the water is slightly acidic.

> 화학적 풍화작용은 빗물이 암석의 광물 알갱이와 반응하여 새로운 광물(점토)과 수용성 염을 형성함으로써 발생한다. 이러한 반응은 특히 물이 약산성일 때 발생한다.
